Puppy Manners & Skills Class
Available Wednesday 3:00pm, Wednesday 5:30pm
For pups 9 – 18 weeks of age at start of class • 6 week course • $225 + hst
Get your pup started off in the right direction with our 6 class puppy training session! A new puppy has so much to learn in a human household and is learning at all times! Our puppy class will help you guide your pup in day to day life and manage emotional states with their associated behaviours both inside and outside the home. This class provides a great opportunity for your pup to be working around other people and puppies in a safe and supervised setting. Learn how to motivate your puppy to perform the behaviours you would like to see! We will work on teaching skills such as sit, down, stand, coming when called, walking politely on leash, and holding position on a mat/bed. We also do exercises for focus and impulse control and positive handling experiences for your puppy. Suggestions for how to deal with puppy challenges such as nipping, chewing, housetraining, jumping-up, general excitability, and helping your puppy learn how to deal with distractions will be included in this course. All training techniques are positive, building in play and motivation, to create a fun learning environment for the whole family! A recorded video lesson and accompanying written handout are sent once per week prior to each in-person class. Each in-person class runs 45 minutes in duration.

This course will focus on games and exercises directed specifically towards teaching polite leash walking skills and building a reliable recall (coming when called).

This course also includes strategies on how to deal with distractions that dogs may become overly excited or anxious about.
Techniques used in this class are designed to be motivational and rewarding to build understanding and expand the relationship and communication between you and your dog!
High-value (something your dog really loves) rewards will be used in the training process. These can include either or both food rewards and toy rewards depending on your dog’s preference.
Build communication and trust in your relationship while working on these essential skills!
