Come and enjoy the beauty of this preserve along the North Branch of the Chicago River.
About this Event

We'll walk through floodplain and woodland terrain and also get a bird's eye view of the forest from the bike bridge.

Difficulty level: The walk will be at a moderate pace on both paved and unpaved trails. The difficulty level will be intermediate as stepping over trees and other obstacles on some paths is required.

Parking/Meeting location: Park in the parking lot. We'll meet near the bench & map/information sign located at the front entrance.

Meet your volunteer guide: Diane has a lifelong interest in nature and has been a volunteer with the Forest Preserves of Cook County since 2019. Her particular area of focus is on native plants and the collection and sowing of native plant seeds in conjunction with the North Branch Restoration Project. As an avid hiker, she has formed and led fitness hiking groups for 10+ years.

What to bring/wear: Water, weather appropriate clothing and sturdy boots are all recommended.

This event is free, but please register to secure your spot. If you have any questions about this walk or the Trailblazers Walking Series, contact Sydney Armstead, Engagement Program Manager, at [email protected].
