Trail Obstacle Challenge Series #5
Advertisement
Welcome to our 2024 trail obstacle challenge series. We will be offering no less than five events in the Central Kentucky area. Each competition will offer in-hand and ridden classes with ribbons being awarded for each class. To be eligible for the series highpoint award, the same horse and rider/handler pair must show at three separate competitions. Your top three scores will be used and averaged to determine your highpoint score. Predetermined obstacles at each competition will be used to break ties. A highpoint winner and reserve champ will be announced following the final competition.
All breeds of equine are welcomed and encouraged to participate. This event is family friendly. We value our beginners all the way up to our professional competitors. We want you to come have fun with your equine. This is a very inviting atmosphere. We love sharing this relatively new discipline and letting you and your equine discover why so many fall in love with obstacles for competition and recreation. We find that many of the folks that attend our events become great friends and attend other events, trail rides, and clinics together. We also encourage people not ready to compete to bring a camp chair and come cheer on your favorite duos.

The Series Schedule:
April 6 - Asbury University Equine Center, Wilmore, KY
May 18 – Kentucky Equine Adoption Center, Nicholasville, KY
June 22 - Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, Harrodsburg, KY
July 6 – Masterson Station Park, Lexington, KY
September 21 - Roaring Springs Farm, Midway KY
The Show Bill:

2. In-Hand Youth (17 years old and under)
3. In-Hand Adult (18 years and older)
4. In-Hand Open (any equine and handler)

7. Ridden Adult (18 years and older)
8. Ridden Open (any equine and handler)
9. Ridden Timed Open (Winner will have the fastest time. Missing an obstacle or completing an obstacle out of order will incur a 1-minute penalty for each occurrence. Not completing an obstacle will incur a 30 second penalty per occurrence.)
We are pleased to offer Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program (TIP) awards throughout this series. Be sure to have your horse's TIP number available when you register for a class.
***The same equine may not be shown more than once in any given class.
Equestrians under 18 must wear a riding helmet in all classes. Equestrians age 18+ are strongly urged to wear a riding helmet. A closed toe boot with at least a 1” heel, long pants, and a shirt with sleeves are considered appropriate attire. No horse may be shown with a chain shank through the mouth or around the nose. Any tack that restricts the head will not be allowed, i.e. martingales or tiedowns. Ridden equine must have a saddle with stirrups and a rein on each side of the headstall—bareback and bridle-less riding are not permitted for this series.

Final scores will be available to anyone needing this information to send to their individual clubs and breed organizations, etc.
Registration Fees:
Historically, our obstacle competitions raise money for equine non-profits and university equine student groups. This will be a continued tradition for us this year. Each competition will be accepting registration independently. Typically, we will use Venmo.
Youth registration - $20 per class
Adult registration - $30 per class
Each event will have something unique to offer in addition to the competitive classes. These items may be special amenities, discounts on multiple classes, vendors on location, prizes, or other activities you can participate in. Please watch for more details as we continue working with our partners.
