About this Event
What is a Desire line?
A desire line or social trail is an unauthorized trail that has been opened by repeated communal use and usually shortcuts the authorized trail path. The closure of unauthorized trails fits into both the purview of the trail stewardship and forest restoration programs in Van Cortlandt Park. It is vital to prevent compaction and ecosystem fragmentation. Desire lines can often be coupled with litter and dumping of trash.
