Join a ranger for a guided wildflower walk at Bakers Mountain Park, one of the routes on the Catawba County 2024/25 Trail Challenge!About the walk: This 1.6-mile route was designed to showcase the park’s diversity of spring wildflowers, including trillium, bellwort, Solomon’s seal, little brown jugs, iris, anemone, bloodroot and many more. A spring wildflower walk is a bit like a scavenger hunt; it requires frequent stops and careful observation to seek out blooms that are often small and dispersed over a wide area. We'll traverse slowly to look for and learn about the wildflowers we find blooming along the route.
Meet at the park office for a prompt start at 9am; no advance registration is required. Bring water and snacks and wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and trail conditions. The walk is expected to last 1.5-2 hours. The event is free and open to all.
In the event of inclement weather, the walk will be postponed to our raindate the following Saturday, April 19, 2025.
