Build a solid foundation of barista skills in this comprehensive one-day hands-on introductory barista training class.
We’ll practice recommended processes for brewing espresso, adjusting espresso grinders, and steaming milk, and use them to create delicious espresso-based beverages.
Students will learn the recommended process for brewing espresso using various recipes, then practice pulling shots and tasting their results. We’ll taste and discuss properly and improperly prepared espresso and learn how to adjust an espresso grinder to achieve delicious results. Students will practice steaming milk and then use all of their new skills to create various espresso-based beverages. We’ll also learn how to clean espresso machines and grinders.
No prior experience is necessary, though completing Introduction to Coffee is strongly recommended.
Successful completion of this course and a short online written exam qualifies the learner for the Specialty Coffee Association’s Introduction to Coffee certificate.
Course fee include all SCA Certificate Fees.
Face Covering and Mask Requirement: Face covering and masks are required while attending the training sessions or being in the building and not actively tasting coffee.
Hospitality
Dress Code: Don’t wear too much perfume as it interferes with tasting and smelling of coffee.
