The Claverhouse Association is hosting a Trafalgar dinner this year to not only honour the immortal memory but also to reflect on that sad day, thirty years ago, when the bean-counters in London scrapped so much of the treasure which was the RNRTo that end and recognising the long-standing contact and working/playing relationship between the four northern Divisions: Graham, Camperdown, Calliope and Claverhouse, we have opened up the event to all those who had served in any of those four Divisions.
The event will kick off earlier than usual so that it can end earlier than usual to allow those who need to catch buses or trains home can still do so. That also means that the many delights of central Edinburgh will still be available to those hardier souls who feel the need (and still have the stamina) to continue.
The dinner will follow traditional lines with toasts, speakers and reasonably copious amounts of wine and port and the event is also open to partners
There will be tables of eight so that groups that wish to play together can opt to stay together - if there is no preference then we would probably mix things up a bit
For the time being, all we want people to do is to register their interest in the event by sending an e:mail to:
[email protected]
This e:mail should contain their Division(s) and their contact details (and those for their ‘Plus-1’ too)
It’s quite in order for a group to nominate someone to respond on their behalf but we’d still need all those in the group to be identified
The plan thereafter is to send out periodic updates and the collection of a cash deposit nearer the time
The list will close on 20th September 2024
It’s a large venue and we’d love it to be filled full so anything that you can do to reach out to old shipmates, not just the ones on Facebook, would be very much appreciated.
