About this Event

Sacred Fire Asheville Invites you to a Traditional Weather Harvest Festival.

GIVE BACK & GIVE THANKS

In 2024 Helene swept across our region changing our landscape and changing our lives; many of us felt a profound sense of vulnerability. We strove to accommodate the losses – loss of lives, homes, businesses, water, electricity, internet, roads, trees, as well as our beloved parks and trails. Slowly life is returning. The blessed rains have nourished our gardens, orchards, fields and forests. With great loss comes the potential for great renewal.

People are helping each other out which is wonderful yet something else is available and needed. The Weather Beings are calling us to be in relationship.  Giving gratitude through these prayers and offerings is a time-honored way to deepen our relationship with the Divine, vibrant expressions who sustain all life.

The Harvest Festival is a once-a-year celebration rooted in the Nahua tradition which has assisted communities for generations to build relationship with their local weather. As an initiated Granicera in this tradition, Amy Haynes will lead this ceremony of deep gratitude, supported by our Asheville-area Nahua-tradition Weather Workers along with the community.

Your participation at this communal celebration helps complete a cycle of reciprocity with the Weather Beings by acknowledging their life-sustaining gifts and offering thanks for those gifts.

Your participation includes bringing 3 traditional offerings and a potluck dish for our feast. The specific offerings being asked for by these Divine expressions are:

1) Fresh cut flowers

2) Fruit – particularly aromatic are appreciated.

3) Bread – traditionally some sweet and some savory.

Please read your registration confirmation email for more details including driving and parking directions. Check your junk mail if you do not receive this information or contact us.

Please consider offering a financial donation via paypal or onsite.

Warmly,

Lisa Lichtig & Patrick Hanaway : Firekeepers - Sacred Fire Asheville - (828) 713-1553
