Join a panel of experts as they teach about the traditional knowledge of native plants and how to make traditional medicine.
About this Event

The Traditional Plant Workshop welcomes everyone to join us at Vancouver Island University's Nanaimo Campus in Building 108 Room 105 (Trades Discovery Centre).

Doors at the event open at 9:30 am. The event will being at 10:00 am and finish at 2:00 pm. Lunch will be provided. Please message the event organizer for any food allergies.

The workshop will feature presentations from three local experts, including Snuneymuxw Elder Geraldine Manson, Dr. Nancy Turner, and Kim Recalma. Experts will present on plant names, known locations for gathering, and techniques and tools for harvesting, as well as the cultural, nutritional, and medicinal properties of native plants and how they are prepared. Guests will also have the opportunity to create and sample different native plant foods and medicines.

Entry to the workshop is free. Tickets can only be reserved on Eventbrite. Reserve your ticket now, space is limited!
