Learning to lead 'trad' climbs can be an intimidating step. Just like with our other courses, we believe that hands-on experience and working with a mentor are the best ways to learn these skills. As the center of traditional climbing in South Central PA, Chickies Rock often serves as the location for this course.
Our two-day Traditional Lead Climbing course is designed for climbers with previous climbing experience that are interested in taking the next step. Students in this course have often completed other North Fork climbing courses or Private Guiding and have now decided that they're ready to learn to step out on the 'sharp end' of the rope. This course covers:
-Placing Protection
-Route Finding
-Rope Management
-Anchor Building
-Multi-Pitch Rappels
-Belay Transitions
-Belaying Techniques
-Risk Management Concerns
