The Hardanger’s embroidery technique is traditionally used in decorating bunads in Norway. A wide range of patterns are used for the modern artists to try, in both traditional and contemporary styles. Hardanger is still used to decorate cushions, table linen and other household items as well as items for display on a wall.Join us for this traditional hardanger embroidery class. In this introductory Hardanger class you will learn to stitch Kloster Blocks, Eyelets, and Buttonhole edge. You will cut the fabric so you can Needle weave the bars to make Dove’s Eyes and then cut around the Buttonhole edge.
Meet your instructor:
Jean has been stitching for over 40 years and teaching for 30+ years. She has taught many types of needlework, designed and stitched an ornament for the White House Christmas Tree, taught at local and national seminars and taught Hardanger at the International Organizational of Lace Incorporated. Jean has a love of sharing Hardanger with those who are interested and has taught fifth graders to those in their eighties with all achieving success.
