We will explore how to reduce decay and damage in buildings with regular maintenance.
About this Event

Join us to learn about the practicalities of detailed and regular inspections of traditional buildings. We’ll share how a robust maintenance plan can stave off decay and expensive repairs.

A networking lunch will provide you with the opportunity to continue discussions.

Our full-day experience includes a tour of Stirling’s historic Old Town. Our team will point out a range of maintenance issues within the city and discuss the perils of ignoring the warning signs of fabric decay.

For those who cannot join us in person, a virtual ticket is available for the morning only.

Learning outcomes

You will:

  1. Understand the basic principles and practical approaches underpinning sound management of Scotland’s traditional buildings.
  2. Recognise the physical and economic benefits of having a formal maintenance programme managed by qualified operatives.
  3. Understand the process of managing regular maintenance inspections for a traditional property, including the compilation of maintenance manuals and logbooks.

Who should attend?

We encourage graduates, heritage professionals and building practitioners from all disciplines interested in developing their knowledge and practice in traditional buildings to consider attending.

We also welcome anyone with responsibility for maintaining a traditional property, from architects, surveyors and building managers to fabric convenors, agents and homeowners.
