About Chef Walks First
Jessica Paemonekot (Walks First in Menominee) is the Executive Chef and owner of Ketapanen Kitchen, Chicago’s first Native American Pop-Up Kitchen and catering company. An enrolled member of the Menominee Indian Tribe, she was born on the reservation and raised in Chicago, where she still resides. A classically trained chef from Le Cordon Bleu, Jessica’s love for cooking was nurtured by her mother, Linda, who taught her that food is a form of love, connection, and community. This foundation inspired the creation of Ketapanen Kitchen named after the Menominee word for love. At the heart of her culinary vision is the belief that every dish should be made with care, good thoughts, and intention.
