TRAD follows gifted fiddle player Shona McAnally (Megan Nic Fhionnghaile) and her young brother Mickey (Cathal Coade Palmer) as they leave their home in the Donegal Gaeltacht and take to the road with a troupe of wandering musicians on a cross-country journey of adventure, romance, and musical exploration.Filmed across locations including Donegal and Galway, the film also features an exceptional supporting cast including Aidan Gillen, Sarah Greene, Peter Coonan and Ann Skelly.
Winner of the audience award at this year’s Galway Film Fleadh, writer-director Lance Daly’s follow up to 2018’s Irish box-office smash hit Black ‘47 is both a wildly entertaining road-trip as well as a magical and joyous celebration of Irish music. The film is anchored by a superb break-out lead performance from Donegal fiddle player Megan Nic Fhionnghaile who also contributes to the film’s vibrant soundtrack (with brothers Declan and Eugene Quinn) composed of standout traditional Irish tunes.
