Have you ever thought about researching your home or your family’s home, but you didn’t know where to begin? Join us Tuesday December 9, 6-7:45pm at the DBRL Columbia Library to learn about how to use resources available from the Boone County Recorder of Deeds office to research your home or a historic property in Columbia. The Recorder of Deeds office is responsible for keeping a record of documents primarily used in real estate, such as deeds, mortgages, easements, surveys, and plats, among other documents. The Recorder’s Office also issues and records marriage licenses. These documents and information can all be helpful when researching a property’s history.
Our guest speaker, Bob Nolte, was elected the Boone County Recorder of Deeds in November 2022. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Binghamton University and a Master’s in Education Administration from the University of Southern California. Prior to running for office, Bob served in the University of Missouri’s Athletics Compliance Office.
