BENEFITS OF TOYOTA KATA
Have you ever found yourself asking:
· How do we keep improvement going?
· How do we align our organization so that daily improvements move us toward strategic goals?
· How can we work to develop solutions scientifically, instead of trying to implement preconceived solutions?
· What does true Plan-Do-Check-Act look like both on paper and in real work?
WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE
At this workshop, you will learn about the true concepts behind Toyota’s success with Lean Manufacturing. In his revolutionary book Toyota Kata, author and researcher, Mike Rother uncovered how Toyota teaches managers and supervisors, as well as all leaders up and down the organization, to be Coaches and Learners by using some simple practice routines we call Katas. This workshop takes a hands-on approach to solving a classroom challenge to demonstrate how to think more scientifically and develop tools and solutions that will translate to solving your company’s problems. By combining classroom training with a hands-on challenge, you will experience both Coach and Learner roles to build a visual storyboard using the 4-step Improvement Kata to improve the process. You will also learn the importance of the daily 5 Question Coaching Kata as you demonstrate the use of these 5 Coaching Kata questions. Kata practice routines are about the practical application of scientific thinking for pursuing challenging goals, while simultaneously developing people to creatively solve problems. The Improvement Kata and Coaching Kata turn scientific thinking into a practical skill anyone can learn, by combining this four-step scientific working pattern with techniques of deliberate practice!
