.Join us to celebrate 200 years of the Erie Canal! We will be adding events as we schedule them but here is just a few events already confirmed!
The event begins with a walk along the canal, organized by Folksmarch, a community-driven organization established in 1981. Each month, we come together to explore trails, state parks, and the breathtaking beauty of the great outdoors. Our walks are open to families of all ages, abilities, and pets, fostering a spirit of inclusivity.
At Ryder Park, located at DeWitt Town Hall, children will experience fun through a variety of activities, including inflatables, games, and face painting! Families can enjoy a delightful wagon ride along the canal between the town hall and Cedar Bay.
Adults can engage in a cornhole tournament, while Erie Canal Museum hosts an insightful discussion on the brewing industry that flourished along the canal. Beyond its role in transportation, the canal sparked economic growth and transformed brewing into a significant industry along its banks. Local breweries will provide tastings to celebrate this rich heritage.
We’ll also showcase an array of food trucks, arts and crafts vendors, and local organizations and businesses. The Jamesville Road Band will entertain us with their performance from 6 PM to 9 PM, and we will conclude the evening with a spectacular fireworks display! Let’s come together to celebrate community spirit and create unforgettable memories!
