Miki Berenyi Trio has released “Vertigo” – their first official single available now via Bella Union – as they prepare for their upcoming U.S. headline tour with support from Lol Tolhurst xBudgie. Fronted by Miki Berenyi – best known as the lead singer, rhythm guitarist and founder member of shoegaze icons and Britpop darlings, Lush, and her more recent band, Piroshka – the trio includes Piroshka collaborators Kevin 'Moose' McKillop on guitar and Oliver Cherer on bass. For the U.S. tour, they will also be joined by Michael Conroy (Piroshka, Modern
English).
The gorgeous and complex “Vertigo” has been part of the band’s live set for over a year and is one of the first songs they wrote together. Berenyi notes, “‘Vertigo’ is about anxiety and the
efforts to talk myself down from the precipice – the usual cheerful stuff.” Of the recording process, she adds, “It’s a challenge to not have a drummer, and to use more programming, but
the essence of the music is still guitars and melody – as it always has been, particularly in mine and Moose’s bands.” Listen to “Vertigo” here: https://bfan.link/mb3vertigo.
The band has also share a video for the song, filmed by French director Sébastien Faits-Divers in the Consortium Museum (Contemporary Art Center) in Dijon, in one of the
Isabella Ducrot exhibition rooms. Watch “Vertigo” here:

In addition to the new song and tour, Berenyi recently released her acclaimed autobiography in the U.S. via Mango Publishing. Fingers Crossed: How Music Saved Me From Success was
originally published in the UK in 2022. The searingly honest and beautifully written memoir by the musician is an incredible account of a trailblazing woman and a seminal band delivered with the vivid, emotional power of an accomplished storyteller.
At the heart of the story are Miki’s internal battles: the conflict between her mouthy public persona and her thin-skinned private identity; the trials of being a woman in an infuriatingly male
world; and the struggle to find a middle ground between ‘safe’ indie obscurity and ‘sell-out’international success. Told through frank confession, wry humor and emotional honesty, this is
the incredible tale of a trailblazing woman and a seminal band.
