Moderated by Professor Marya Besharov, Academic Director of the Skoll Centre, the speakers will discuss how businesses can be changed from within to prioritise purpose. Drawing on experience using the DEAL approach alongside other frameworks, the speakers will discuss tools and strategies for redefining the mission, culture, and operations of businesses. The session will draw on both research and practice, offering actionable insights for creating sustainable, purpose-driven change. Join us to learn how to reshape your business for long-term impact.
Speakers:
is the business and enterprise lead at the Doughnut Economics Action Lab. For over 10 years, he has focused on the transformation of the business world to make it regenerative and distributive by design – exploring governance and ownership models that embed social and ecological priorities. Recently, he was the chief executive of the World Fair Trade Organization and previously spent 7 years at Oxfam leading campaign initiatives and founded Oxfam’s Future of Business Initiative. Erinch has also worked at Procter & Gamble as a market strategy manager, established a furniture business and worked for Australia's aid programme. Erinch is a board member of the Social Enterprise World Forum and teaches sustainable value chains at Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. He holds degrees in finance and law, and an honorary doctorate from Oxford Brookes University.
is a pioneer in impact economy and management innovation, best known for founding the Economics of Mutuality. As former Chief Economist at Mars Incorporated, he led its development in collaboration with Oxford Saïd Business School before establishing it as a non-profit platform. He co-founded Centers for the Economics of Mutuality at Oxford (UK), CEIBS (China), and Erasmus (NL). He launched ONEsociety in 2024 to expand the paradigm beyond business through management education reform, policymaking, and urban applications. Co-editor of "Putting Purpose into Practice" and co-author of "Completing Capitalism," both translated into Chinese, Bruno is a Senior Fellow at Wharton and Rotterdam, a snr advisor to BCG, and a UN Global Compact PRME board member. He also serves on the S&P Sustainable Finance Council, China Impact Investment Network, and WEF.
Moderator:
is Professor of Organisations and Impact and Academic Director of the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship. Her research and teaching focus on leadership, social impact, and hybrid organisations. She engages with leaders and organisations worldwide to help them manage competing demands of social impact and financial performance. Marya received a BA in Social Studies, an MA in Sociology, and a PhD in Organisational Behaviour from Harvard University. She also holds an MBA from Stanford University.
