The Friends of Newport Canal group is up and running. We have the backing of Telford and Wrekin Council and the Shrewsbury and Newport Canal Trust. The aim is to keep the tow paths and the general waterway healthy and in good condition. We will meet occasionally throughout the year when work is required.
Our first task will be to remove the Great Willowherb from along the edge and remove some overhanging branches and self set trees.
Initial meeting is Monday 15th September at 11am by the Black Shed. We are supplying some tools but bring gloves and secateurs if you have them.
