About this Event
We're excited to invite you to the Touro University California (TUC) Public Health Program's Racial Justice Act Symposium on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 10 am to 3 pm. Join us in-person at the beautiful Farragut Inn Ballroom on our Mare Island campus in Vallejo, CA.
This symposium, hosted by our Health Equity and Criminal Justice Concentration, aims to highlight the critical role of the California Racial Justice Act in public health. By tackling systemic racism and discrimination in the criminal justice system, the Act paves the way for better health outcomes in communities of color, reducing trauma, and promoting well-being.
Our Master of Public Health Program is proud to be the first to be accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) that offers a concentration in Health Equity and Criminal Justice. We are committed to addressing the public health impacts of criminal justice involvement.
The event will feature a dynamic lineup of speakers, featuring Assemblymember Ash Kalra representing California’s 25th Assembly District, distinguished attorneys, public defenders, community leaders, and engaging breakout sessions to dive deeper into these pressing issues.
We're expecting around 80 attendees, including participants from the communities of Vallejo, Solano County, and the Bay Area, as well as TUC students, staff, and faculty. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, and contribute to meaningful change.
Mark your calendars and don't miss this chance to be part of a movement towards a more equitable and healthier society. See you there!
