Lilac is America's only surviving steam-powered lighthouse and buoy tender and served the Coast Guard from 1933 to 1972.
About this Event

Lilac is a retired Coast Guard cutter that carried supplies to lighthouses and maintained buoys from 1933 to 1972. USCGC Lilac is America's only surviving steam-powered lighthouse tender and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Lilac is now a museum ship operated by the Lilac Preservation Project. Lilac also provides venues for events and exhibitions.

The current art exhibition celebrates Lilac's 88th birthday. Come view the historic bouquet by Untapped New York and various historic images of Lilac's career by visual artist Aaron Asis. These visuals are supplemented by the audio story "Aids to Navigation" created by playwright Justin Rivers. More about the exhibition can be found on our website at http://www.lilacpreservationproject.org/current-exhibit.
