Starting at the Bikers Mecca of Matlock Bath we will make our way north up through the Pennines and over the moors and dales of Yorkshire to our accommodation at Wark near Hexham. Both single occupancy and shared rooms are presently available. One of the highlights of this trip is the Dark Skies Observatory session on the night of the 12th when you are invited to join us in watching the Perseids Meteor Shower from the viewing area at the Dark Skies Observatory within the grounds of our accommodation - literally a minutes walk. The very capable astronomers there will offer advice, guidance and information about all you can see in the skies above from your seated position - and the 12th August is the premium day for most activity of this particular meteor shower. Session will be 2100-2300hrs ….
Full breakfast is included in this tour and after breakfast we have all day to explore the area …. which has fantastic roads and awesome scenery. Hadrians Wall is accessible in many areas along with it’s forts and Roman temple ruins - if that’s your sort of thing. The Kielder Forest is nearby and has a 12 miles drive through the deeply forested area - which is magical. Lots to see and as a group we can make a decision OR you can take the time out to ride your own ride.
Our accommodation has a well renowned restaurant in which we might dine on Monday evening ….and of course the dark skies are still there which you might like to watch from the walled garden whilst sipping a brew.
A different route southbound taking in Hartside, Buttertubs Pass, Hawes and Skipton as we wend our way back towards Matlock Bath.
