Supervisor Walter Alcorn invites you to Explore Hunter Mill District at the Fifth Annual Tour de Hunter Mill

The Tour de Hunter Mill (TdHM) is a community bike ride offering 2 routes (long & short) that change each year to highlight different areas of the district.

Join your neighbors, family, and friends on a scenic ride that will begin and end this year at the North County Governmental Center (1801 Cameron Glen Dr, Reston- across from the Reston Regional Library)

Since its start in 2021, the TdHM has featured new routes each year to offer riders a fresh view as well as highlight various bike-friendly areas of Hunter Mill District.

Route Information:

Start/End:

North County Governmental Center (*NCGC)

1801 Cameron Glen Dr, Reston

*The NCGC is located off Baron Cameron Drive, across from the Reston Regional Library and is a shared building that includes the Hunter Mill District Board of Supervisors Office & the Reston Police Station.

*Free parking available


Short Route: 11 miles

TdHM Ride Highlights:

  • New Wiehle Ave Bridge on W&OD
  • Frying Pan Park
  • New Access trail to Herndon Metro Station
  • Reston Lakes
  • South Reston's shaded rolling lanes

There will be a designated Rest Stop available along the routes.

Ride marshals and Fairfax County police officers will be on hand to help ensure a safe ride and assist as needed.


TdHM Ride Registration Information

Open from April 1- May 4:

Fee is $30 per adult rider. We require a first name and last name for each ticket.

Event is rain or shine, see policies below.

Registration fee covers rider & marshal insurance costs, 2025 Tour de Hunter Mill socks and a $5 donation to Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling for coordinating the registration and other ride logistics. Fees are collected to fund the ride, not for profit.

*Children 15 and under are free but must be riding with an adult.

*Once the adult is registered, please send an email to the address below with your name, contact information, the child’s name & the child’s age and you will receive registration instructions.

*FABB Members automatically receive a discount when using the email associated with their membership. For more information on FABB membership please visit: Join FABB

*If you would like to register as a family (up to 5 people) please send an email to the address below to receive information about family pricing and registration instructions.

Policies

1. Children 15 and under must be riding with a parent or guardian.

2. NO REFUNDS due to event cancellation or if the purchaser cannot attend the event. Event is rain or shine.

3. In the event of inclement weather, please check the website for ride day information and announcements.

4. NO TRANSFERS of registration to other riders

5. Helmets are required for the duration of the ride and must be worn at all times when riding. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you cannot afford a helmet, we can help with a helmet loan.

6. Each adult is required to complete a liability waiver during online registration.

7. Minors must have their waiver signed by a parent or guardian. When you send the email to [email protected] to register a child, you will receive instructions about waivers for minors.


Agenda on Ride Day:

  • 7:45 a.m. - Check- in begins
  • 8:00 a.m. - Welcome riders.
  • 8:15 a.m. - Remarks and ride reminders
  • 8:30 a.m. - Long Ride Start
  • 8:35 a.m. - Short Ride Start
  • 9:00 a.m.- 10:45 a.m. -Rest Stop Open
  • 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Post-ride food & fun at North County Governmental Center
