The Tour of the Fabulous Sydonie Mansion starts at 10:30 AM which is newly restored and decorated for Christmas. Their Christmas tour is normally $35.00 your cost will be $30.00 which includes a $1.00 processing fees. We are assuming that everyone who goes on the tour will join us for lunch at the Lakeside Inn. Lunch is on your own. If you are NOT going to join us for lunch, send Mike a text at 5136466523.
Lunch, on your own, will be at 1 PM. We will make your Tour and lunch reservation from the Allevents.in site ticket sales.
Free parking is available at Sydonie Mansion and Lakeside Inn.
Details about the Tour:
Sydonie Mansion in Mount Dora Florida is a historic Mediterranean Revival estate originally built in 1883 and remodeled in 1903 by renowned architect Grosvenor Atterbury for Pittsburgh steel magnate James Laughlin. Once called the most significant residential structure in Florida the mansion features 42 rooms across 22000 square feet inspired by the Alhambra Palace in Spain.
History
Sydonie Mansion was established by James and Sydney Laughlin as a winter retreat with its revamp completed in 1904.
The estate included sculpted gardens rare plants citrus groves a dairy farm its own power plant and a bowling.
After Laughlin family ownership ended in 1942 it became part of a boarding school and was later subdivided. The current 10.88-acre property is overseen by the Frogley family who have restored and opened it for public tours and events.
