Through a series of partnering and awareness exercises we will broaden our field of perception to research sensing ourselves within another body. By enlarging our own being we will call into question the borders between inside and outside and cultivate an extended perception of space. We may then achieve a state of „becoming the other while the other is becoming me" - feeling like a permeable vessel, which is a core quality of Butoh. Partnering work deepens this practice and refines this permeability.
At the same time we will use partnering as a tool to work with gestures and re-discover precise performed gestures as a source of inspiration leading to the origins of language and meaningful movement.
Combining the physical and the mindful significance of a gesture allows us to find a holistic way of expressing ourselves and cultivating a light, harmonic, authentic and powerful way to move.
Who is it for?
The workshops address professionals in dance and theatre as well as amateurs of all ages.
Teaching will be in English, German or French, according to the language of the participants.
Imres Background
Imre Thormann trained seven years in Tokyo with Kazuo Ohno (Buth) and Noguchi Michizo (founder of Noguchi Taiso, experiencing the principles/ habits of nature in your own body). He is as well an
Alexander Technique teacher.
After 13 years living in Tokyo, he is now based in the south of France, teaching regularly in Molières-sur-Cèze (close to Nimes) and in Basel.
