This is our first unofficial Total Liberation March! We hope to make it official soon and do this every year. This is a march for the rights of all sentient beings; including, but not limited to, human and non-human animals. According to the Wikipedia page for Total Liberation:
“Total liberation, also referred to as total liberation ecology or veganarchism, is a political philosophy and movement that combines anarchism with a commitment to animal and earth liberation.”
We are resisting a system of oppression which disregards the majority of sentient life and values only the select few ruling class elite.
Many of us (the 99%) turn into a “Smith” (The Matrix reference) to defend the oppressive system even when they believe in the rights of some marginalized groups. We invite our participants to make signs illustrating any of the injustices that can be connected to the plight of animals. Something activists normally do at an animal right march. For example, Feminism, Aboriginal/Indigenous rights, climate change, etc. Please do not make a sign of a social injustice that isn’t illustrating the connection to animal rights.
Total Liberation is a strategy to combine the concerns many have on the political left with the fight for animal liberation. Are we able to create a bridge between animal rights advocacy and human rights? This is something we would like to discuss at the event with you.
At 11:30 AM, we will meet at a location TBD and shared via our signal chat and WhatsApp.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We want to invite advocacy groups to share what they do. At 12PM, we are going to have a line up of speakers and performers that will go for about an hour or an hour and half, after that we will march to the stores we have lined up to protest, and then we will end at a location that is TBD (via Signal and WhatsApp.
WHAT TO KNOW
We are not responsible for any lost items. Do not bring illicit drugs. Do not harass bystanders and participants. Do not talk to the police; we will have liaisons.
