Torrington Remembers - Your Favorite Places
Join us for a night of casual conversation and reminiscing about your favorite Torrington places – to shop, to hangout, to play, to eat. Maybe you have fond memories of going to the bookstore at Mertz, picking through all the goods at Woolworths or the Army Navy Store, buying school supplies at Bradlees or school clothes at Justeens or Reibmans. You might have a story about attending the carnival up by Caldor, buying your first bike at Tommy’s, attending a special event at the Yankee Peddlar or Venetian, or taking an outing to get your favorite food at Scarpellis, Tonys or Torrington Creamery. Maybe you worked at Torrington Company or Hotchkiss Brothers or WTOR or the UCONN Branch and spent your free time skating, fishing, or swimming on Burr Pond, zipping around on a go-cart or hanging out with your friends at Skyvue or the Parkade Cinema. The possibilities are endless.
We’ll get you started with some of our favorite images and collection items and will leave the rest of the conversation to the group.
