Come and join us at Countess Wear Village Hall for an exhibition exploring the history of Topsham and Countess Wear during World War II, with a focus on the preparations for D-Day. The Exeter Golf and Country Club in Countess Wear played a significant role in the lead up to D-Day, as a US Naval Stores base; and our airforce used the layout of the bridges on Bridge Road to prepare for their role in the liberation of France.
