About this Event
Welcome to our second Tools to Thrive: a workshop for Perimenopause and Menopausal Women! Join us at hendrix, a color salon for an event designed to empower and educate women moving through this stage of life.
Interestingly, many of the common symptoms women experience at this transition are clues into vulnerabilities (and strengths) we bring to the process of aging. Learn how to extend "Health span" and how, as clinicians, we approach this chapter with curiosity and insight. Nuances like the relationship between metabolic changes and cognitive risks, inflammatory clues and how insulin informs brain and body health will each be explored. How night sweats and sleep disturbance are windows into areas like bone loss and stress response plus clinical tools for evaluating risk and mitigating it. How HRT and non-hormonal interventions can be supportive and what unique populations like breast cancer survivors can consider safely at the transition. While the sensitivities of this transition can serve as a litmus test for our unique sensitivities, attending in a personalized way set us up to thrive. Learn what's available in integrative care and how individualized care is the pillar of preventative medicine.
Our workshop will cover a range of topics including: evaluating common symptoms with Functional lab assessment and generating clinical plans . Topics like sleep, muscle building (including its importance for bone health and women-centric training regimens), metabolism (how insulin resistance informs abdominal weight gain) and cognition (given women are 3x the risk of dementia like Alzheimers) will be deconstructed. Practical tools will be shared for interfacing each area including labs to order and daily practices to undertake. Connect with other women, gain valuable insights and ask questions in this unique discussion on the mechanisms and strategies phyiologically.
