COMMUNITY ACTION DISCUSSION

In a world that often feels weighed down by injustice, we have within us a great capacity for resistance – and it’s not just about fighting back, but about creating, celebrating, and uniting. Nonviolence, joy as a radical act of defiance, art that speaks louder than words, bold protests, and the refusal to conform to oppressive cultural norms – these are the tools that ignite change. And at the heart of it all? Building a beloved community, where relationships thrive across the divides that separate us.
As Rev. Gretchen Haley so passionately reminds us, “‘These times ask us to instead be what Martin Luther King Jr. called, ‘creatively maladjusted.’ These times ask us to see and name what is not right, what is dis-ordered in the world and to refuse to believe it is normal, or acceptable, or moral – and instead to believe that we are meant for something else – to expect peace, and equality, and mutual respect – for everyone, including ourselves..."
This is our moment to reshape reality, to transform what is into what should be. Together, we can make resistance not just a fight – but a celebration of what’s possible.
