3-5pm.In his two decades as an integral member of New York City's improvised music community, saxophonist and composer Tony Malaby has emerged as a wholly unique and singular voice.
In addition to leading his New York based
Tamarindo Trio with Nasheet Waits and William Parker, Mr. Malaby teaches at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Previous work includes time in Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra, Paul Motian’s electric Bebop Band and many other projects such as Grammy winning Kris Davis’ Diatom Ribbons among others.
For this special masterclass, Tony will be leading an open rehearsal with a backing band of Trombonist Jeb Bishop and Charles Rumback’s long-standing trio with Jim Baker and John Tate.
