Saturday, November 30 – Tonle Wax: Scotland’s Legacy in House and TechnoOn St. Andrew’s Day, Tonle Wax celebrates Scotland’s groundbreaking contributions to the world of electronic music. Scotland has cultivated a distinct sound, one that pulses with energy and originality, drawing listeners and dancers alike to its unique blend of house and techno. Labels like Soma Records, founded by Slam, have been pivotal in the global scene, releasing Daft Punk’s first track and countless genre-defining records. Numbers and nights like Optimo expanded the boundaries of electronic music in Glasgow, pushing sound and experience to new heights.
“Scotland’s house scene is as powerful as it is independent,” says JD Twitch of Optimo. Slam, (the late and much missed) Jackmaster, Silicone Soul, Eclair Fifi, Denis Sulta and other Scottish artists took these sounds to the world stage, combining local grit with universal appeal. This special night pays homage to Scotland’s influence on the electronic music landscape, from raw warehouses to polished club floors.
Celebrate St. Andrew’s Day with us as we dive into the beats, history, and spirit of Scottish house and techno.
