“I’m excited for people to take it all in. This album is really my child” Tommy Richman says of his debut COYOTE. After years on the grind and a 2024 takeover with “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” and “DEVIL IS A LIE” Tommy flaunts his range in the stylish collection of songs completed in the Nevada desert. Richman likens the album to colors—purples and oranges that come to life in its video trailer. Upcoming singles “THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE” and “WHITNEY” cultivate new lanes in Tommy’s unique world of airy vocals set to his special blend of disco-funk. Named after Motley Crue’s famed drummer Tommy seemed destined for the spotlight. Growing up just 30 minutes outside Washington D.C. Richman noticed the glass ceiling for talented artists around him. He left for New York City during the mid-2010s to study classical music and singing for a stint. Tommy later left school returned home and tended bar to support his passion—making basement music with his core group of friends who remain with him today. Tommy Richman never grew complacent or settled for waiting for opportunities to come to him. In early 2022 he connected with some friends on TikTok and moved to Los Angeles for six months—sleeping on an air mattress and establishing a new network. Songs like “Games” and mynameisntjmack collaboration “BUNKER/PREROLL” were released and garnered millions of listens. A series of singles gave way to ALLIGATOR a ‘22 seven-song collection including the personal standout “ELECTRIFY TONIGHT.” Brent Faiyaz’s team heard the EP eventually signing Tommy to ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records. The two DMV artists embarked on a 35-date tour together. While on the road Tommy’s confidence grew. He dropped THE RUSH EP and appeared alongside FELIX! On Brent’s “Upset” a hit that now has over 60 million streams. After growing success in the 2020s 2024 became a tipping point for Tommy. "MILLION DOLLAR BABY" exploded on TikTok and became a pop culture soundtrack. June's "DEVIL IS A LIE" followed suit with lyrics that captured Richman’s drive and tenacity. "I've been building up my discography for years. I'm not a one-hit-wonder" he says with conviction—having already proven it so. COYOTE is about artistry and range. The upcoming video single "THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE" began as a rough recording about love's disillusions that Tommy made in a Hawaii hotel bathroom. "It's a great example of slowing things down a little bit" he says. "It's not always about the hype songs; I'm versatile." The self-produced "WHITNEY" takes its title from an '80s R&B vibe that Richman channeled in the tradition of late superstar Whitney Houston. The LP contains songs that began years ago when Tommy was broke and lonely but confident in his art. In early 2024 he finalized these sketches and ideas in the desert. The rugged terrain and big skies inspired Tommy who sees COYOTE as a thematic follow-up to ALLIGATOR. The album arrives with Tommy Richman’s first headlining tour—with September dates already sold out along with festival appearances. The release will close out a dominating 2024 where “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” is a Top 5 streamed song in the US across genres at more than 1.2 billion streams globally. The track topped multiple charts and landed on President Obama’s summer playlist. “DEVIL IS A LIE” is fast approaching 200 million global streams. COYOTE is a howling creative statement that will cement longevity and present a spectrum of sounds. “I want people to realize I’m a real artist” Tommy asserts. COYOTE follows a journey from bathroom studios to the top of the charts. “This album is gonna last forever and I’m here to stay.”
