The Broken Hearts were created by former Tom Petty and Mudcrutch band mate; musician/songwriter/author/bassist Charlie Souza along with singer/songwriter Shawn Scheller (Save The Radio!) as a tribute to his passing in October of 2017. . The current touring band consists of Mateo Olivo as Mike Campbell on lead guitar, Dave Walker (The Hazies, Robin Trower) as Howie Epstein/Ron Blair on bass guitar, Aidan Cain as Benmont Tench on Piano, Organ and Keyboards, Chris " Blu" McDonald as Stan Lynch/Steve Ferrone on drums and Shawn Scheller as Tom Petty on vocals and guitar. To date, the band has performed all over the continental U.S. selling out numerous shows in many cities. Scheller's vocals have been called the closest you can possibly get to Tom's voice, and the band's attention to detail both sonically and in stage design is unmatched. There are many Petty tributes out there, but none that boast the aesthetics, heritage, and homegrown Florida-based authenticity of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers quite like The Broken Hearts.
