Tom Lee - 100th Anniversary Commemorative
Come and join the decedents of Mr. Tom Lee, and the decedents of those he heroically rescued, who were aboard the steamboat M.E. Norman which sank in the Mississippi River near Memphis, Tennessee on 8 May 2025.
At the time of the tragedy, Mr. Tom Lee was a 39 year-old river worker, who was returning to shore in a 28-foot motorboat, the "Zev". He was the only outside witness to the sinking of the M.E. Normon. Mr. Lee, who could not swim, acted with little regard for his own safety, using the small motorboat to rescue thirty-two (32) passengers from the mighty Mississippi River. He made several trips, continuing the search throughout the night.
