About this Event
Tom is CEO of Markel Group, the American insurance and investment business. Markel floated on the stock market in 1986 at $8.33 per share; today its shares trade for over $1,900 each. Tom has worked at Markel for 35 years, and for the whole period has managed its public equities portfolio. As such, he has been a key architect of Markel’s success.
Tom will be discussing his experiences, reflections and mistakes with Peter Hollis, a fellow-professional investor and long-time owner of Markel. As Keeper of the Library of Mistakes I hope that you will join us to learn from Tom, a remarkably successful investor who is humble and honest enough to admit to, and reflect on, his mistakes.
