About this Event
In conjunction with Aotearoa Festival of Architecture this 2-day event will showcase local Māori designers and artists, and celebrate successful collaborations between mana whenua hapū, artists and architects. The event will include a one day symposium at Hihiaua Cultural Centre, and a bus tour of recent projects in the mid north.
The event vision is ‘Uniquely Te Tai Tokerau architecture and design’, and the mission is ‘To promote and celebrate collaboration between architects, artists and mana whenua on built environment projects across the wider Te Tai Tokerau region.’
The objective of the event is to deliver a two-day symposium in September 2022 for 100 attendees that will educate architects on best practice for working with mana whenua, and inform hapū and artists on opportunities to work collaboratively with architects.
It will take place 16-17 September 2022 at Hihiaua Cultural Centre, Whangārei on day one, and sites across the mid-North on day two (buses departing from Hihiaua Cultural Centre).
The event has been developed to showcase Te Tai Tokerau architecture and design, and to provide opportunities for local and out-of-region architects, designers and artists to share learnings, network, upskill and be inspired.
Huge thanks to our sponsors Te Kāhui Whaihanga NZIA, Ngā Aho and Northland Inc for your contribution to make this happen in Te Tai Tokerau.
