About this Event

Toggle Bracelet in Fine Silver Metal Clay

Duration: 3.5 hours

Total cost to student: $150

Toggle Clasps are an easy and functional clasp to add to any bracelet or necklace! But a decorative Toggle Clasp can be the focal point, creating an eye-catching piece of wearable art! Especially when it is made of Fine Silver (.999).

Metal Clay Instructor, Kara Brown, will lead us in each creating our very own fine silver Toggle using metal clay. We will fire these in a kiln to ensure they have the sufficient strength and then once fired, polished, and patinaed (optional) – we will attach it to the chain and you’ll get to walk out sporting a brand-new, one-of-a-kind silver bracelet!

Did you know that Fine Silver tarnishes less than Sterling Silver? This means your toggle will keep looking bright and beautiful longer!

Along the way you’ll learn about the properties of metal clay and all the steps that go into creating, refining, and firing your clay! There will be several textures available that are especially attractive for your focal Toggle Clasp.

All the tools and materials you’ll need will be available and the class includes enough fine silver for your toggle, as well as the bracelet chain.

Don’t Know What Metal Clay Is?

Imagine taking a piece of clay and forming it into a shape you like, and then placing this clay into a small kiln and, voila! out comes a pure, fine silver object, ready to be polished and worn! Metal Clay has tiny particles of fine silver suspended in an organic binder. It looks and feels just like clay, but not as messy! Once fired, a magical transformation takes place as the binder burns away, the silver particles sinter, and you are left with a beautiful piece of jewelry that you’ve created!
