About this Event

Welcome to the Meaningful Interaction in Dementia Care event! This event is co-organised and hosted by St Chads Sunshine Cafe at St Chads Church 41, Hollyfield Road, Sutton Coldfield West Midlands B75 7SN and it is part funded by Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council.

Join us for a day filled with insightful discussions, best practice in dementia care and networking opportunities focused on enhancing the quality of care for individuals with a dementia.

Our event is for people who live and work in and around Sutton Coldfield and will take place on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 9:30 AM at St Chads Church Hall, 41 Hollyfield Road, Sutton Coldfield. This is a great opportunity for care partners, healthcare professionals, and anyone supporting or caring for a person who is living with a diagnosis of a dementia to come together and learn from one another and from an expert in the field.

The day will be led by David Wilson-Wynne (MSc in Dementia Studies), Senior Dementia Consultant at the University of Stirling's internationally renowned Dementia Services Development Centre. We will explore how person-led, meaningful interaction can enhance the wellbeing of people living with a dementia and their care partners

What will I learn?

  • An insight into the impact and effectiveness of a person-led approach
  • Promoting meaningful engagement and connection and the impact this has on the quality of life of people living with a dementia
  • Increasing your understanding of current dementia care best practice and exploring the connection between ageing and dementia
  • Understanding the importance of dementia as a biographical condition (our life experiences, our timeline and what is important in our lives) to meaningfully connect to those in our care
  • Exploring how the environment plays an important role and can impact the person living with a dementia, both positively and negatively

Don't miss out on this chance to gain valuable knowledge and skills that will help you provide meaningful interactions and improve the lives of those living with a dementia. Register now to secure your spot!
