SHASKEEN
This group have been a cornerstone of the Irish traditional and folk music scene, they continue to carry the torch for Irish music featuring such accomplished musicians and who evolved through generations
Formed in London in May 1970 by Limerick native Tom Cussen, the band was born out of a longing for home shared by the Irish diaspora. When Tom Cussen returned to Ireland in 1971, he re-formed the group in Galway with fellow musicians he met in the vibrant trad scene of the time. Now, more than 50 years later, Shaskeen remains a beloved force on the trad. circuit. Each member brings decades of experience and a personal history with traditional music.
MegaTRAD
MegaTRAD are a high energy, improvisation based trio. They have a sound best described as an exalted manifestation of Irish Trad. Hey! We’re MEGA-Trad, and we do exactly what the title says 🙂 It’s big, rich, foot-stompin’, head banging Irish Traditional music saturated with deep bass and pulsing beats.
The nature of the improvised show gives audiences a unique experience every time they attend a gig and gives megaTRAD the freedom to sculpt their performance around what energy the audience is looking for.
