Join us for an in-person presentation about Youngstown Steel Heritage's Tod McDonald Rolling Mill Project. We will discuss the creation of an operating steam driven rolling mill using the Tod Steam Engine and certain rolling mill equipment from the former McDonald Steel Corporation's 14" shape mill. We will discuss steam power used in the steel industry and how YSH is preserving that technology through the operation of the J&L steam locomotive fleet and the mighty Tod Engine. We will also talk about how two stands from the 14" shape mill will be integrated into the site and how the rolling mill will function. Finally we will discuss future opportunities to actually utilize the rolling mill to make small runs of specialty steel shapes as we operate the mill for demonstration purposes.
This presentation is part of the YHCIL's ongoing Merchant Lecture Series.
