The People's Bookshop is delighted to welcome Toby Manning in conversation about his new book, Mixing Pop and Politics: A Marxist History of Popular Music.Ranging from the early 1950s to the present, Toby's political history of popular music explores the connections between popular music and political ideology and shows how -- from doo-wop to hip-hop, punk to crunk, garage to grime -- popular music has reflected and resisted the political pressures and events of its era.
Tickets are just £5, which can be applied to the cost of a signed book on the night.
Doors open at 6.30 for drinks and nibbles; the event starts at 7pm.
