About this Event
For the first time since 2019, District 9 members will gather IN PERSON for our annual District Conference. We are offering the LOWEST CONFERENCE RATE in memory for a Friday-evening and all-day Saturday event jam-packed with educational content and fun to enhance your Toastmasters experience. Greet Toastmasters friends you haven't seen in years – and make new friends, too.
Here's what you can expect at this exciting event:
Theme: Our theme this year celebrates a century of the Toastmasters International organization and the impact Toastmasters has had on members: 100 Years of Transforming Lives.
Friday Evening Event: Ice-Cream Social with PowerPoint Karaoke!
Speech Contests: The Table Topics Contest will culminate in a District showdown, while the
International Speech Contest will produce a winner who will advance to the Region Quarterfinals and a chance to compete in the Semifinals and then Finals of the World Championship of Public Speaking at the Toastmasters International Convention in Anaheim, CA, in August.
Keynote Speaker: Toastmasters International Director for Region 1, Sondra Nunez, pictured at right.
More Speakers and Education Sessions: Lots more inspiring and informative content is planned! Want to serve as a conference presenter? Apply here! Questions about presenting? Contact Education and Program Chair Catherine Wiberg. Watch this page and your email for announcements of additional speakers.
Food: The Youth Group at Opportunity Presbyterian Church will serve a Pancake Breakfast by donation on Saturday morning. Lunch, included in your conference fee, will be a make-your-own-sandwich bar, including ham, turkey, roast beef, croissants, both white and wheat sub rolls, lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, mayo, and ketchup, along with ambrosia salad and pasta salad.
Venue: Opportunity Presbyterian Church is conveniently located off Exit 289, I-90. Plenty of parking is available. The church offers a wonderful area for mingling with your D9 friends, pictured, below right.
Schedule: The Saturday portion of the Conference will start at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m., allowing those traveling from outside the Spokane area to leave home and arrive home at reasonable hours.
Hotels: For those desiring to attend the Friday-evening portion of the conference and to stay over on Friday evening, you'll find about a dozen reasonably priced hotels within 3 miles of the conference venue. A list of hotels with contact info will be posted here soon.
Conference Fee and Payment: Last time we held an in-person conference, the fee was $110. Our Early-Bird fee (before April 1) for the 2024 Conference is half that!! $55! Contestants attending the conference only for the speech contests are not required to pay the conference fee but can choose to pay $20 for lunch.
