If you've ever been to or through Pacific, you've seen the towering white sandstone cliffs along the Meramec and Old Route 66. They are called 'palisades' and the local conservation access is named for them.I'm giving a program: "To the Wide Pacific Shore" explaining the history, geology and use of the sandstone and sandstone mines on November 7 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm on November 7, at the Red Cedar Inn Visitor Center and Museum, 1047 E. Osage in Pacific, adjacent to Jensen Point Park. Event is free and open to the public, sponsored by the Red Cedar Inn Visitor Center and Museum. For questions, contact me at 636 667 4162 or the Red Cedar at 636 257 0500 x 222
