Come grab a drink as KORDA debut To Care, a new piece for string quartet and electronics composed by award-winning composer, Ben Ramsden.
To Care is written for string quartet and electronics, dealing with the nature of mental health. The music acts as a piece of therapy, telling the composer’s story whilst giving little away, but also illuminating the universal pressures on musicians and other artists in a very uncertain world. The piece juxtaposes ethereal strings with tectonic beats, journeying through demonic waltzes, club scherzos and floating sonic islands.
About:
Ben Ramsden is an award-winning London-based, Yorkshire-born composer/musician. He composes pieces that sit at a crossroads between different genres that work together, creating a larger, more inclusive middle. Being equally interested in classical and popular music, he has developed an exciting, unique sound world that combines contemporary orchestration techniques and electronic music production. Ben has had premieres for concert, dance, theatre and film all over the country. Highlights include the Southbank Centre, Lyric Hammersmith, Resolution Dance Festival, Vault Festival and Edinburgh Fringe.
KORDA is a collective of musicians who are passionate about making classical music accessible to a modern-day audience. By recording music from living composers of all backgrounds, KORDA helps audiences to gain new perspectives on contemporary classical music. They perform pieces that speak to listeners from today’s perspective, dealing with current events, issues and ideas. Instrumentation varies depending on the commission and is not limited to a string quartet.
