About this Event

Every Thursday, Artichoke Community Music hosts the Thursday Night Coffeehouse Showcase—an evening of up to four local and touring artists in an intimate listening-room setting.

Curators such as the Portland Folk Music Society and Portland Songwriters Association select the performers, who generously donate their sets to support Artichoke’s mission.

Audience tips go directly to the musicians. Beer, wine, soft drinks, and light snacks are available at the bar.

Doors - 6:30pm
Show - 7:00pm

Ed Rosney

Ed Rosney had the good musical fortune to grow up amidst the British Invasion and the emergence of the singer-songwriter era. Couple that with an avid interest in the music of the labor and civil rights movements and you have a recipe for becoming a songwriter.

Ed uses those influences to craft engaging tunes. His love of history is an undercurrent in several songs, including one about his neighborhood park and another telling the tale of a political campaign from a unique perspective. He’s an avid kayaker and has recently written a song about paddling the Columbia Slough.

Artichoke Music has been central to Ed’s musical journey. It’s there he bought instruments, took classes, and participated in song circles and open mics. “I’m one of many lucky Portlanders whose life has been enriched by the Artichoke Music community.”

Tristan Damron

Since 2023, Tristan Damron has been delighting audiences with powerful and emotional acoustic performances. Previously based in Southern California, Tristan was a cornerstone of the Inland Empire music scene and regularly performed at open mic nights in the area. Today, he lives and gigs in Portland, Oregon.

To Tristan, the art of songwriting is a deep reflection of the human experience and our shared mortal condition. Tristan writes and performs with intention; He writes, not just because he wants to, but because he needs to. He hopes that his music resonates with his audience--he wants people to hear his music and feel lighter, and gentler

Kirk Miller

Original Americana with a classic country/bluegrass vibe.

Growing up in South Louisiana, Kirk Miller had little or no exposure to bluegrass music. He started playing guitar in high school for the reason most young men do, to meet girls. Exposure to bluegrass would come later in life while attending school in Colorado and then while living in West Virginia. Portland's vibrant music scene inspired Kirk to pick up the mandolin and he has been obsessed with bluegrass ever since (just ask his wife). Kirk currently plays mandolin and sings with Lost Creek Bluegrass Band.

He started writing songs a number of years ago and found his way into the Portland Songwriters Association. His songwriting has been compared to Guy Clark, John Prine, and Robert Earl Keen while his singing has been compared to an animal in great discomfort… He has no records, cd’s, or cassettes for sale as he has an aversion to technology. He just hopes you enjoy his songs.

Rosie Haze

Rosie Haze is a melodic and contemporary singer-songwriter who creates music that meets at a crossroads of indie, alternative, and pop genres. Trained as a vocalist, she frequently accompanies herself on piano. Rosie Haze has been singing, writing, and creating music since childhood, and she is deeply passionate about making music that both tells her story and resonates with larger issues and concepts.
