About this Event

The Bristol Marketing Meetup is an informal, friendly place for the marketers of Bristol to meet, learn, and share knowledge with one another. Come in 'listen' not 'sell' mode ?

This will be one of our first events back after Covid. We just want to get together, say hello, have a chat, and have a nice time.

The focus of the event will therefore be very much focused on that - you meeting other people. For those of you who attended pre-Covid there will be some small changes to help us all achieve that.

- We'll still have a talk - but this will be the single talk of the night rather than the two talks of old.

- It seems sensible to not serve food at the moment, but we will figure out a solution for drinks!

There is no pressure on anyone to come - we will be running events every two months from this point on so take it at a pace you're comfortable with. If you're ready... then let's have a lovely night in the company of some amazin' people.

Speaker: Nick Hussey, FRAHM

Creating an authentic and kinder brand

British entrepreneur, Nick Hussey, draws on his real-world experiences and the knowledge he has gained over the years to help and inspire you to build simple, stronger, loved brands. In 2009, Nick set up a commuter cycling apparel brand, Vulpine. Vulpine attracted investors, grew dramatically and raised over £1million in crowdfunding. But 2017 the business went bust and Nick walked away, having lost it all. He then suffered a nervous breakdown and became suicidal.

Upon his recovery, yearning for a simpler, kinder life, and wanting to save more folk from mental health horrors, Nick set up FRAHM Jacket – a high-end apparel company that's ecommerce only. It’s not just about making and selling lovely stuff, FRAHM donates £10 from every jacket they sell to Campaign Against Living Miserably, the suicide prevention charity. In this talk, Nick discusses how to build and grow a truly authentic, kinder brand and demonstrates how FRAHM reflects his values of creating a positive force in business through his openness to discuss mental health issues.

“He lives and breathes what he does and tells a fantastic, not faceless story. He is changing our perception of marketing.”

— Fashion Journalism by Julie Bradford

Nick Hussey is a real-world entrepreneur, specialising in brand, creative, content and e-commerce – all with a strong affinity for the customer. He is an allrounder, with a particular ability in building loved brands. In 2009 Nick created a Vulpine, which failed, despite huge growth & press hype. Talking openly about his mental health crisis and using his experiences, he later set up FRAHM Jacket. FRAHM is a simpler, low volume, ultra high quality brand that sells by pre-order. FRAHM promote better mental health & give to charity. Their women's range launches this year.

FRAHM make tougher, more beautifully detailed jackets, for your real world. The real world is as tough as it is beautiful, and FRAHM talk about both with surprising honesty. Founded in 2018 by Nick Hussey & Emmalou Hussey, FRAHM is a fast growing (496% last year) family business, that do everything except cut and sew the jackets from their office near Bath. FRAHM is officially partnered with Campaign Against Living Miserably, donating £10 from every jacket they sell and working with them to promote better mental health.

And finally...

Please let your marketing friends and colleagues know about this group too, I hope to build it into a great resource for the community over the coming months and years. Attendance will be taken at this event. If you RSVP 'Yes' and then do not come, you will receive a strike. Three strikes and you're outta here!
