TJ Hooker Taylorized
Son of Legend Johnnie Taylor
TJ Hooker-Taylor, accomplished Artist, Performer, and Songwriter, hails from the musical hub of Kansas City, Missouri. Born into a family deeply rooted in music, his mother, Mary Ann Hooker, and father, the Legendary Blues/Soul recording artist Johnnie Taylor, instilled the rich tradition of church singing in him from an early age.
At the age of ten, TJ, alongside his family, formed The Young Golden Voices, captivating audiences in churches throughout the Kansas City area. At 16, TJ founded the R&B sensation, The Grand Jury Band. The band swiftly rose to prominence as the #1 funk ensemble in the city, securing awards and sharing stages with renowned acts such as The Bar-Kays, Cameo, and Slave.
As TJ reached the age of 21, the unmistakable 'Taylor Sound' began to manifest in his voice. While he hadn't consciously sought to emulate his father's style, an opportunity to open for his legendary father at the age of 25 proved to be a transformative experience. It was then that "The Blues hit me," says TJ.
Unapologetically proud of his lineage, TJ Hooker-Taylor began indepedently releasing CDs like "The Total Package," "Your Babies Need A Daddy," and "Taylorized," each echoing the distinctive Johnnie Taylor sound.
For this latest project (“Taylorized The 45"), TJ collaborated with his Grand Jury bandmate prof.t (Lo-Key?) and enlisted the expertise of Godson (Flyte Tyme Productions) to helm writing and production. With this touch of a "newer" Southern Soul sound, TJ Hooker-Taylor aims to carry forward the torch, ensuring the legacy of the Taylor musical heritage.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL MULTICULTURAL WESTERN HERITAGE MUSEUM
Founded in 2001, the Museum acknowledges the multicultural contributions of Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, European Americans, Asian and African Americans in the settlement of the American frontier. Works of artists and others who documented people and events of the time via journals, photographs, and other historical items are part of the museum's collection of overlooked materials that tell, often for the first time, our complete story. Through various educational programs (e.g., storytelling sessions, "Forgotten Cowboys Tour," cultural heritage workshops, historical reenactments, participatory learning, and hybrid programming) at the museum and in the community, the Museum shares our multicultural western heritage while instilling positive values of diversity, tolerance, hard-work, and determination. Visitors to the Museum and at our traveling exhibitions leave with an awareness that the American West came into being through the struggles and triumphs of racially and socio-economically diverse people.
, our recent effort to raise funds for our relocation and exhibit preservation.
