About this Event
Join us for Making Botanical Inks with Hawthorn led by Karn John!
This workshop will introduce the process that Karn uses to make botanical inks. There will be a short presentation of this process in the gallery space alongside the adverse camber installation piece that features this ink work. There will also be some simple drawing and writing activities. You will be invited to reflect on the shifting of the seasons to Spring and have plenty of time to experiment with using the Hawthorn ink yourself on paper, making cards and small inkworks to take away with you. Hawthorn and its blossoms play a big part in the hedgerows and Folklore of this time of the year. This workshop is an invitation to deepen our relationship with place and plants by through gentle and curious attention.
All are welcome to attend. No prior experience of ink or artmaking is needed. All materials provided. Please bring a sketch/notebook and pen to make notes if you would like.
This session will be BSL interpreted.
This workshop is hosted by On Your Face Collective for the Queering Wales Connecting People project. It is part of the event programme for the Tir Cwiar Exhibition at Elysium Gallery Swansea.
